Inside Our High Precision GNSS Workshop at Silverstone

Alpha Micro were proud to welcome engineers, developers and technical leaders to our recent High Precision GNSS Workshop at Silverstone (UK), hosted in collaboration with u-blox. As part of a Europe-wide tour, this exclusive event stood out as a highlight in our summer calendar — offering hands-on access to the latest breakthroughs in real-time positioning.
Throughout the day, attendees explored the ZED-X20P, u-blox’s next-generation GNSS receiver module that is redefining sub-decimeter accuracy and performance in dynamic conditions.
Thanks to a well-structured programme, the workshop delivered a balance of deep technical insight, practical experience and valuable networking opportunities — empowering participants to accelerate their own development timelines.
What Made It Special
Attendees had the opportunity to:
Dive into the unique architecture of the ZED-X20P and understand its industry-leading capabilities.
See firsthand how high-precision GNSS performs in dynamic, real-world scenarios.
Engage with expert-led discussions covering integration strategies, current trends and future directions in GNSS.
Connect directly with u-blox engineers and Alpha Micro’s own technical specialists for valuable one-to-one insights.
Experiment hands-on with test equipment and data collection tools during interactive sessions.
As a bonus, enjoyed a tour of the iconic Silverstone Museum — adding a unique motorsport twist to a technology-focused day.
Moreover, the workshop fostered collaboration and idea-sharing among professionals from a wide range of industries.
A Word from Our Product Manager
David Taylor, Alpha Micro Product Manager, shared his reflections on the day:
“Against the backdrop of the British Grand Prix having been held just 3 days before and with several F1 teams still running post race track testing on their cars, the Silverstone Museum was an excellent and ideal location to host our high precision GNSS workshop to highlight and train engineers on the latest high accuracy positioning technology from the u-blox GNSS product team.
Delegates learnt from the technology know how that u-blox and Alpha Micro GNSS staff bring and had a few hours to try out the new u-blox ZED-X20P high precision GNSS development kits, ahead of the production release. The day also included an in depth overview of the new GNSS bands emerging whilst other subject areas key to optimising a GNSS design in were covered.
The delegates came from all over the U.K and included Technical Staff from SME’s and Multinational organisations to U.K government personnel. The feedback received was excellent and well worth the day.”
What Attendees Said
“Spot on.”
“Really good.”
“Enjoyed it — very informative.”
Clearly, the feedback reflected the value and relevance of the content delivered. In particular, many attendees appreciated the mix of theory and hands-on experience. As a result, the event not only expanded technical knowledge but also offered real-world context for deploying the ZED-X20P.
A Showcase for the ZED-X20P
Designed specifically for applications such as precision agriculture, robotics, autonomous vehicles, surveying and smart infrastructure, the ZED-X20P unlocks new potential for engineers seeking robust, centimetre-level accuracy.
Furthermore, the event included a preview of the EVK-X20P evaluation kit, now available in limited quantities. As a result, developers can begin prototyping immediately using the same next-generation technology featured in the workshop.
