The compact LEXI-R520 IoT module (16 x 16 mm) harnesses the power of the u-blox UBX-R52 cellular chipset. Despite its diminutive form, LEXI-R520 efficiently occupies approximately 60% of the PCB space required by the SARA-R520 model, all while maintaining stellar LTE performance and precise positioning capabilities. This attribute renders it particularly well-suited for compact devices such as personal or pet trackers, telematics systems, industrial automation and monitoring tools, as well as applications in smart city infrastructure, smart buildings, secure payments, micro-mobility solutions and connected healthcare devices.
Operating at power class 3 (PC3) with an impressive maximum output power of 23 dBm across all bands, LEXI-R520 ensures robust connections and mitigates data retransmission issues at cell peripheries, bolstering reliability.
Equipped with LTE Cat M1 and LTE Cat NB2 technologies, LEXI-R520 incorporates a wide array of 3GPP Rel. 14 and Rel. 15 features tailored for IoT applications. These enhancements encompass areas such as power efficiency, extended coverage, enhanced data rates and seamless mobility.
Positioning functionality is seamlessly integrated into the module via SpotNow, a cost-effective positioning solution embedded directly within the UBX-R52 chipset. This eliminates the need for a dedicated GNSS receiver, thus optimizing power consumption, particularly suitable for intermittent tracking scenarios. Alternatively, location estimation can be performed using LTE cell station signaling data via CellLocate, further streamlining the device's design by eliminating the necessity for a dedicated GNSS antenna.
