RF Coupler - external antenna isolator RF coupler

Designed primarily for use in electricity smart meter applications, the Alpha Micro RF coupler has been tested and shown to provide in excess of 11kV isolation between the input and output circuits, while at the same time providing a low loss channel to RF frequencies, all using no active components.  Fitted inside the meter itself, it will provide a high-voltage safety barrier between the live circuitry on the meter and a bulkhead socket onto which is connected the antenna for the RF modem, through which the electricity meter can communicate.  The isolation is critically important on the bulkhead as it is possible for this to be touched by anyone non-trained and non-technical; hence the high isolation voltage specification.

The Alpha Micro RF coupler must be fitted inside the meter with the RF cable routed in such a way as to not affect the isolating properties of the component itself. Our technical team are happy to work with designers to ensure that the barriers are not compromised in any design.

Depending on the variant, additional RF cable assemblies may be required and Alpha Micro Components are able to supply these for you.
