u-blox have announced a firmware update for its NEO-F10T GNSS timing module, bringing important enhancements and a new type number to the product line. Effective from 21 May 2025, the firmware will be upgraded from TIM 3.01 to TIM 3.02, marking the transition from type number NEO-F10T-00B-00 to NEO-F10T-00B-01.

The most notable feature introduced in this update is Galileo OSNMA (Open Service Navigation Message Authentication) support – providing enhanced protection against spoofing attacks by allowing the receiver to verify the authenticity of navigation data. This is a significant step forward in ensuring secure and reliable timing, especially in critical infrastructure and telecom applications.

However, alongside this improvement, support for the GLONASS L1 signal has been removed. Customers currently relying on GLONASS L1 are encouraged to assess this change during evaluation.

What This Means for Customers

The new module remains electrically and physically identical to the previous version. For most applications using the default configuration, performance will be largely unchanged. However, u-blox strongly recommends that customers begin evaluating the updated module once samples become available.

Sample availability for the new NEO-F10T-00B-01 begins from 21 May 2025, with the first shipments expected by 21 September 2025. As with all rolling product updates, customers may continue to receive units with the older firmware until existing inventory is fully distributed.

Recommended Actions

  • Test Compatibility: Customers should verify that the updated firmware operates as expected in their specific application.

  • Review Documentation: Updated product documents, including firmware release notes and application guidelines, are available now on the u-blox website.

  • Plan for Transition: Be aware of the removal of GLONASS L1 support and prepare for the new reel format of 500 pieces per shipment.
