This compact module combines LoRaWAN, WiFi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) into a single, streamlined solution. Powerful Architecture with a Compact Design

At the heart of the module lies the STM32WLE5 microcontroller, responsible for LoRa connectivity and overall system control. Alongside it, the Espressif ESP8684 co-processor handles WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 communications. Together, they support many use cases that require different wireless technologies. Furthermore, the module is fully compatible with LoRaWAN 1.0.4 standards including Classes A, B and C. It also supports LoRa point-to-point communication. This means developers can create standalone networks without relying on external infrastructure.

Developer-Friendly Tools

The RAK11160 comes preloaded with RUI3 firmware. Therefore, custom firmware development is simplified using Arduino-style APIs. As a result, sensors and peripherals can be connected directly without needing a separate microcontroller. Alternatively, developers may use AT commands via UART to control the module externally. Hence, this flexibility makes it suitable for both simple and advanced IoT applications.

Built for Easy Integration and Real-World Use

Two hardware versions exist. One version includes an MHF4 IPEX connector for external antennas. The other offers RF pinouts for custom antenna designs. Consequently, engineers gain more control over product layout and performance. Moreover, the module operates reliably in extreme temperatures ranging from minus 40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Its range can exceed 10 kilometres when paired with the right antenna.
